Vancouver Islanders, what can we say other than “Thank you”?
We can’t put into words what your support means to us. We can’t put into words what your support means to children and families touched by pediatric cancer.
We can’t put into words what it feels like to cycle 1,100-km, fueled by the heartfelt welcomes and warm hugs in more than 25 Vancouver Island communities.
We can’t put into words what it feels like to have a parent come up to us and share their devastating story about losing a child to cancer. We can’t put into words what it feels like to be told, “Thank you for what you do for our family.”
Pulling in to Centennial Square this evening, after an incredible day of stops at schools, sponsors and communities, was emotional, to say the least. Many of us were in tears, overwhelmed by the level of support we have received over the last two weeks of this ride.
To see that our combined efforts — the riders, the volunteers, the community organizers, the donors — helped raise $1,278,065 for pediatric cancer research and support programs is incredible.
Thank you to everyone who supported this endeavour this year. Thank you to everyone who has played a part in raising more than $22 million over the last 19 years on Vancouver Island.
We are so thankful to have your support, and we cannot wait to celebrate our 20th year on Vancouver Island in 2017.
Until next year, Vancouver Island, we say: thank you!
